The following will be descriptions for the states that the MAD DADS organization has rendered services.

NEBRASKA
Nebraska is the founding state where the MAD DADS concept was born in Omaha in May 1989. It is also the national headquarters for the organization and has a total of 5 chapters, one of which is on the Winnebago Indian Reservation. The Omaha Chapter serves as the model for new chapters across the country. The program activities for the state are:

  1. Street Patrol
  2. Rite of Passage Programs
  3. Summer Youth Recreation Programs
  4. Gang/Violence Awareness Programs
  5. Bike Patrols
  6. School-Based Programs
  7. Community Advocacy
  8. Radio Programs

COLORADO
Colorado has the distinction of being the first state outside of Nebraska to establish a chapter. The city of Denver hosted the MAD DADS in 1991. Their chapter in Denver has the following program activities:

  3. Cultural Exchange Programs
  4. Teen Center

IOWA
Iowa was the first state to establish a Teen Center under the MAD DADS model in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The program activities for the state are:

  3. Summer Youth Activities

CALIFORNIA
MAD DADS chapters are located in 6 locations within Los Angeles County. Program activities include:

  1. Street Patrol
  2. Male Responsibility Training
  3.  Teen Pregnancy Projects
  4. Community Advocacy
  5. Youth/Teen Activities
  6. Rite of Passage Program
  7. Youth Mentoring

TEXAS
MAD DADS is very proud of the its chapter located in Post, Texas. Program activities include:

  3. Drug/Gang Counseling

MISSISSIPPI
Greenville, Mississippi is the location of this state’s efforts. Program activities include:

  2. Drug/Gang Counseling
  3. Youth Mentoring
  4. Youth Advocacy

FLORIDA
Florida is the state with the most chapters due to governmental support from the governor and the State Attorney General. The program activities for the state include:

  2. Juvenile Diversion Program
  3. Boy Scouts
  4. Youth Entrepreneurial Program
  5. Youth Mentoring Program
  6. Community Advocacy
  7. Political Advocacy

NEW YORK
New York has three chapters in the state: Washington Heights, New York City; Buffalo and Poughkeepsie. New York State is being primed to host the 1999 National Convention. The program activities for the state include:

  2. School-based Mentoring
  3. Teen Father Program
  4. Fatherhood training
  5. Youth Activities

MICHIGAN
The program activities for the state are limited to the Battle Creek area currently. However, plans included to have a chapter in Detroit by late 1998. Program activities include:

  2. Community Advocacy
  3. Youth Activities

OHIO
The program activities for the state are located in Columbus, and include:

  1. Street Patrol
  2. Community Advocacy
  3. Youth Activities

MARYLAND
The program activities began in Baltimore as part of the Mayor’s Community Partnership Program. Activities include:

  2. Community Advocacy
  3. Youth Activities

MINNESOTA
The program activities began in Minneapolis. Activities include:

  2. Community Advocacy
  3. Youth Activities

ILLINOIS
The program activities for the state are located in Chicago. MAD DADS looks to Chicago to set up activities across the state and possibly host the National Convention in 2001. Activities include:
